Hinckley 15 Longton 12
In a game dominated by mistakes, defence and kicking, Hinckley scrum half Joe Glover delivered 1 piece of class with a drop goal from 45 metres to win the game in the dying minutes. To be brutally honest it was daylight robbery as Longton dominated territory for 80 percent of the game and probably had a legitimate try disallowed however the ref was unsighted.
Hinckley never got going and turned over too much ball to enable their game to flow. This also allowed Longton to kick intelligently and pin Hinckley in their own half for long periods of time. The one week break probably did not do Hinckley any favours, but now they are back on the road I expect a fully focussed effort in what will be a tough battle away at Luctonians next week. A game that will indicate the halfway point in what has been an extremely successful season to date.
