HMH Vixens Strongly Represented at First County Match
Sunday 8th November 2009
HMH Vixens played key roles in both under 15s and two under 18s Leicestershire East county teams. All three Leicester sides were beaten by fierce NLD and midlands south opposition. However seven girls from Hinckley took part in the under 18 matches and several Melton colleagues: Jenna Abbott and Kayti Bowler provided the main power to the scrum in one team, with Jas Mitchell tackling fiercely and competing consistently out of usual position on the wing. Lolly Goodson, again out of usual centre position playing at full back, made her mark on the game despite having to retire after fifteen minutes with a recurring ankle injury.
In the second concurrent under 18s match, Sam Crichton (Melton) made a confident scrum half, again out of preferred position, controlling the game with great confidence. Lucy Judd made a strong flanker, using height and strength to excellent effect in lineouts and Grace Hill tackled strongly and ran in a well worked try under the posts in a second half where Leicester looked like they might even steal the match. Lucy Judd is shown below in action in the lineout.
Under 15s players Sophie Collings, Jess Goodall, charlotte Reeves and acquitted themselves well against a more experienced side. Jules Leah and Jade Digby (Melton), alongside Ellie and Ella from Market Harborough also played a key role in the game. Unfortunately the under 15s full time score was 47 – 7 although much promise was shown by the fledgling HMH girls.
