Under 15s v Coalville
Sunday 15th November 2009
From the whistle, both teams had a steady start to this county ‘Vase’ quarter final match. The pitch was very water logged and there were a few poor passes in the early minutes due to the wet conditions. Hinckley went over the line early but the ball was held –up. From the set scrum Hinckley won the ball and Norton made the pick up and stormed over the line for the first points (no conversion). The game settled with both teams putting together some good moves. Coalville came back with a score that came from Hinckley missing some tackles to allow them in to score, this try was also converted for the max points. All of a sudden we had a game on our hands, we continued to keep them in their own half and we had most of the possession. From an interception of a pass and quick ball out to Smalley who ran into the corner for 5 more points for Hinckley just before the half time whistle. Half time HRFC 10 – CRFC 7.
Hinckley had a great start to the second half with an early score from some good moves in the backs, who passed the ball out to Gandy on the wing who went over to score (no conversion). Hinckley were very strong in the scrum, within 5 metres of the Coalville line, Norton picked up and took the ball over the line for another try (no con). Hinckley continued to play very well and maintained most of the possession of the ball. They went on to score further tries from Smalley, Gandy and Harkness and conversion from Gandy. Final score HRFC 41 – Coalville RFC 7.
A great win which takes us through to the next round in January 2010.
