Under 7s
The weekend saw the under 7’s welcoming a 17 strong Lutterworth squad to the Leicester Road Ground. Despite Hinckley having the run of play in the first half and excellent tries from Colloby, Inman, Lockett and Thomas the half time whistle saw the teams at 4 all. The second half however was a different story with what’s fast becoming the young teams trademark strong defending halting the Lutterworth advances, with Hubbard and Towers both tagging in double figures. The solid defence was coupled with great tries as Inman and Lockett both took a second try each and Hubbard and Towers took one a piece to round off a well deserved 8-5 victory for the home side.
The second match saw both sides field a fresh team, however despite the change of players Hinckley started the second game as they had finished the first. Hinckley took tag after tag preventing Lutterworth establishing any flow to their attacks with Payne tagging in double figures. Going forward Hinckley were just as impressive with great tries from Perkins (1), Johnson (1), Waterhouse (1) and Barnes (1) coupled with four from Payne. This all proved too much for the Lutterworth side and despite 3 tries for the away side Hinckley took a convincing 8-3 victory.
In the final game rolling substitutions allowed all of Hinckleys large squad a final run out. The constant changes however saw the young team struggle to regain the shape and rhythm of the two earlier matches with Lutterworth seizing the opportunity and despite some excellent tagging from Hubbard and two tries a piece for both Thomas and Lockett the final game finished 8-4 to Lutterworth.
A very strong performance again from the young Hinckley squad , with each week seeing these players go from strength to strength. Performances so far promise an impressive season ahead.
