Match 3 Hinckley 0 Market Bosworth 20
Hinckley under 10s have recently placed an added emphasis on tackling. This was evident today despite the score lines. In the first game Hinckley held Bosworth for most of the first half. Bosworth’s speed on the break eventually showed through in the second half.
The second game was much closer with Hinckley again tackling at every opportunity. Cavanagh crossed the line for Hinckley.
In the final game, Hinckley again put in a valiant effort against a strong Bosworth side.
B Gummery was recognised as the player who had put in the most tackles for Hinckley, with Cavanagh being recognised for the best individual tackle of the day.
Under 11s
Match 1
Starting line up: Ridgeway, Campion, Pope, Sperry, Heath, Hubbard, Bower, Sharkey, Miller, Barnes, Gretton and Davis. Subs used Sketchley, Brogden and Kaye.
The first game of the day got off to a stuttering start from Bosworth, gifting Hinckley early possession. Ridgeway bulldozing his way through the opposition set Bower up for the first try. Bosworth hit back but could not overcome the Hinckley forwards who were determined to win every loose ball. They then set up Sharkey to go on a darting run to score his first try of the day. Bower and Sharkey then set about terrorizing the Bosworth defence and then linking up with Miller who powered over to score and give Hinckley a 21-0 lead at half time.
The restart saw the forwards continue to dominate and set our own Billy Whizz, Brogden off to race over and score. Almost immediately the Bosworth line was crossed again by Heath. Some great Rugby was being played by the Hinckley boys today and Bosworth did not have an answer to it. Again good interplay in the backs saw Bower and Sharkey combine and the latter going over to score again. Pope sealed the win with a trademark smash and drive over the Bosworth line.
Final score 45-0

Match 2
Starting line up: Franklin, Campion, Madden, Jones, Heath, Hubbard, Davis, Thorpe, Miller, Baker, Kershaw and Brogden. Subs used Sketchley, Kaye Gretton, Pope Sperry.
Hinckley struck early in the second game of the day Davis setting up Miller to score. Bosworth had more fire in this game and pushed Hinckley deep into their own half. However the defence was strong and the forwards set up Brogden to run the length of the pitch and score. Bosworth came again forcing Hinckley back, but great tackling from Baker and Kershaw kept them at bay. Bosworth started the second half well; however Hinckley were not going to give in and put up a great defence, Jones breaking out time and time again and offloading to the backs which saw Brogden score again. Bosworth were starting to flag now and Hinckley turned on the pressure, the match finished with some great hands in the forwards and backs ending in Sharkey going over to score.
Final score 24-0

Latine loqui coactus sum
Hinckley 21 – Market Bosworth 28
A determined Hinckley side were quickly out of the blocks in the first half, with tries coming from Collings and Reeves in quick succession with efficient conversions from Baker. Bosworth however rallied in the face of adversity and struck back strongly to tie the score as the first half drew to a close. The 2nd half began well enough with a brave try from Reeves with Baker defying the strong wind to add a conversion, however the opposition piled on the pressure and a successive wave of attacks saw them score twice and as the wind dropped their conversions gave them victory. The parents could not agree more with Coach Houghton as he was heard to mutter “Concordia res parvae crescent!“.

Hinckley 12 – Market Bosworth 7
A re-invigorated Hinckley team again started well, with a series of deft passes and adept running leading to Baker running in the first try, though the tempestuous winds denied him a conversion. As the 1st half drew to a close Bevan swept aside the opposition forwards before titillating the crowd with a magnificent pass across to Tuffin who embraced the ball firmly as he launched himself gracefully over the line to score the final try of the half and with a thunderbolt of a conversion from Rowe the score stood 12-0. The 2nd half was a more rugged affair but again Bosworth showed their mettle as their forwards surged onwards and despite zealous defending they managed one try and conversion in an entertaining game. Magister mundi sum as Mr.Ames summed it up.
