Under 7s, 8s & 9s v Market Bosworth
Sunday 6th December 2009
Under 7s
A wet and muddy Sunday morning welcomed Market Bosworth to Leicester Road and things didn’t get any better as the morning went on as Hinckleys Under 7s took three wins and a draw.
Match 1
It was a slow start for Hinckley in the first match allowing Market Bosoworth to seize the opportunity and open up a four try lead. Hinckley finally got into their swing and excellent tries from Thomas (1), Sansome (1), Inman (1) a brace for Barnes (2) and a hatrick for Burton (3) allowed Hinckley to pull back the deficit and take a well earned draw at 8 a piece. The wet conditions didn’t lend themselves to tagging but Lockett, Sansome, Towers and Inman all tagged strongly.
Match 2
The second match saw Hinckley again make a slow start but once they picked up the pace they were unstoppable. Excellent tagging from Babb, Payne and Collerson held Market Bosworth at bay whilst a relentless attacking performance from Hinckley saw brilliant tries from Perkins (1), Masserella (1), a pair each for Collerson (2) and Babb (2), and triples for Payne (3) and Hubbard (3) all of this was to much for Market Bosworth with Hinckley convincingly taking the match 12-5.
Match 3
The third match was a much closer affair with strong tagging from Johnson and Payne hampering Market Bosworths progress. On the attack another hatrick for Payne (3) with further excellent tries for Colloby (1), Babb (2) and Hubbard (2) saw Hinckley cutting through the Market Bosworth defense. Some very good play from Market Bosworth meant this match ran to the wire however Hinckley’s determination won through, eventually take the game 8-7.
Match 4
Hinckley finished the day strongly with the reappearance of their trademark exceptional tagging with Burton, Sansome, Towers, Thomas and Barnes all tagging numerous times, all capped with an outstanding tag from Sansome which saw him take it in mid flight. This all resulted in Market Bosworth being pinned back for much of the game. On the attack Hinckley touched down with great tries, a triple for Barnes (3) a brace for both Sansome (2) and Towers (2), Burton (1), Inman (1). Market Bosworth played well but Hinckley rounded of the day with a well deserved 10-4 victory.
Despite the difficult conditions it was another very impressive outing for this young Hinckley side who continue to go from strength to strength. 3 wins and a draw against a strong Market Bosworth side will have had the boys going home in the knowledge of a job well done.
Under 8s
U8’s maintain their unbeaten run but no wins against Bosworth.
Awful pitch conditions after a heavy night of rain didn’t deter either side from producing three matches of shear determination, commitment and desire.
The first half of the first match ended with the scores level at 20-20 and the second half was no different with end to end scoring from both teams resulting in a final score line of 35-35. Hinckley had six different try scorers in Coupland(2), Whitehurst, Dimbleby, Pye, Campion, Coupland and England, just to demonstrate that this result was achieved with an all round team contribution.
The second match was a game of 2 halves with Hinckley dominating the first half 4 try’s to two. A special mention must go to Horton who not only scored his first try today but followed up with a second immediately after, a very proud dad I am sure. The second half saw Bosworth step up the pressure with some good attacking play and going into the last play of the game Hinckley were 1 try to the good, however the equalising try was scored and both teams shared the spoils. Try scorers were Horton(2), Whitehurst(2), Dimbleby and England.
The third game started with both sides fielding there players in the same coloured shirts, muddy brown, but the action flowed none the less. Both sides tried there hardest to repeat the performances of the first two games and they didn’t disappoint despite cold hands, wet kit and a pitch that no longer showed any signs of any grass. Eight try’s later and a score line of 40-40 was a fair result and both teams must take full credit for todays entertaining fixture. Well done Hinckley players and well done to our near neighbours Bosworth. Hinckley trys from Beaumont, Dimbleby, Whitehurst(2), Coupland, Pye and England.
England makes his way to the try line with Whitehurst, Pye and Thomas in close support.
Campion makes a sprint for the try line with Bosworth in close pursuit
Under 9s
Hinckley Under 9s sponsored by Jason Oliver (Snap On Tools) welcomed Local rivals Market Bosworth to Leicester road and maintain their unbeaten series of matches.Once again Hinckley turned out Lions & Tigers.
Match 1:
Tigers took to the field first, Bosworth having the start and taking the game to Hinckley by converting their first attack, Hinckley stunned by Bosworth’s pacey backs seemed to stand and watch and allow them to run in two more before the half time whistle.
The second half got no better for Hinckley, the forwards not imposing themselves on the game, lots of missed tackles allowed Bosworth to run in two further tries, condemning Hinckley to their biggest defeat of the season so far. Hinckley 0pts Bosworth 25pts.
Match 2:
Lions out next and fired up after watching their team mates heavy defeat, this time took the game to Bosworth, the forwards driving deep into Bosworth’s half, Lockett leading the way with his physical presence clearing out the Bosworth forwards allowing Hinckley to spread the ball to the pacey Sharkey, who ran in an impressive Hat trick, with only one in reply Hinckley went in at half time two tries to the good.
The second half continued with Hinckley dominating up front, great tackling from Lockett,& Howe, and to round off a great performance scrum half Clarke cheekily snuck round the back of the scrum to cross ending the game Hinckley 20pts Bosworth 5pts.
Match 3:
With two matches gone and nothing too separate the teams Tigers and Lions had a half each in game three, Tigers playing the first half with a much improved performance,a burst from Coghlan set Hinckley on their way and with another move from the back of the scrum Clarke crossed, with proud coach Jonno applauding, his clever tactic paying dividends, despite a much improved performance Hinckley went in at half time 15pts to 10pts down.
Tigers came on for the second half confident in turning round a one score deficit, but it was Bosworth who piled on the early pressure but unable to break through the resolute Hinckley defence, Hinckley turned on the heat later in the second half and looked favourite to cross, but with the clock against them ended the half 0-0. Final score Hinckley 10pts Bosworth 15pts.
