Children from Hinckley have been improving their rugby skills with the help of Guinness Premiership champions Leicester Tigers.

More than 60 children from Hinckley RFC’s under-9s to under-13s age groups and girls from the Hinckley Melton and Harborough Vixens were put through their paces by Tigers coaches on the club’s new Matchday Coaching Clinic.

The clinic, which is supported by Mark Group, saw the youngsters work on skills such as passing and tackling under the watchful eye of Tigers coaches at Leicester’s Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth I College.

Accompanied by parents and club coaches, the youngsters then took over the Mark Lounge at Welford Road and enjoyed Tigers Guinness Premiership win over Leeds Carnegie.

Mick Croasdale, Hinckley coaching coordinator, said: “It was a really good day and they got lots out of it. It was cold but excellent.

“It was also a good team-building exercise and there were a lot of parents who came down as well.”

Helen Parkin, manager of HMH Vixens, added: “It was great to get the chance to see how the game works at a professional level and to work with a professional club.”
